Sportsman 500. 2002 Yellow color
Please, honest opinions. A friend of mine is looking for a low cost ATV. There is a 500 pro, maybe a sportsman. He thinks it's 2002. It's yellow in color, is this right ?
It has been rolled pretty bad. The axel has been replaced.
Is this a good deal, or should he stay away.
$1500-$1800.
The problem is the electronics are all gone. Everything on the handlebar and there is a 1 foot by 1 foot empty space where the guage pod or electronics would be. Totally gone. No 4x4 buttons, nothing. Can this be fixed for a resonable cost ? or should he just stay away. Sounds like a good deal, just don't know how much it would cost to fix.. Oh yeah, starter doesn't work either.

I do not know how much it will cost for the parts but you can go to www.yourwaytofun.com where they have an online parts catalogue for polaris parts with prices. This may help with a parts estimate. It would be a good deal if it were trail ready, but that sounds like mess.

It seems to run fine, but since there is no electronincs, I didn't know how much it would cost. I just was worried since it was rolled that bad that there isn't something else that is wrong. The axels are pretty strong, and to bend one would take some serious pressure so who knows what else it would need. Just don't want to end up spending more then If we got a used one for a bit more in good condition. Then there is no time wrenching.
