Question on primary clutch spring
2-2 is the secondary spring setting on the stk. polaris secondary clutch the different settings allow for more or less side tension on the spring they are used for fine tunning. Putting larger tires on any quad is just like changing the gearing but most of the time you add rotational weight too. What this does is it throws your stk. clutching completly out of wack, quads tend to up shift too fast due to the larger size of the tires and pull the operating rpm down on top due to the weight of the tires. Generally what we like to do is go with a little stiffer primary spring, weights either the same as stk. or a couple grams lighter, ( there are also many different styles of weights that can allow you gain even more performance in one area or another but that is a whole new can of worms) helix angles very upon application a quad used for just mudding we will go with a really shallow angle helix and a stiffer secondary spring to prevent the quad from upshifting too fast when the tires are spining, cause when that happens the machine doesn't have enough power to turn the tires once the secondary clutch has opened up. Trail application secondary set-ups will generally go with more helix angle and the samne spring or maybe softer. Of course everything must work together from the primary to the secondary but this should give most of you a good idea on where to start if you are attampting your own cluthcing set-ups. Last but not least the first rule when clutchign is there is an exception to every rule.
