scrambler 4x4 or 2x4?

what configuration of scrammy should i look into a 400 2x4/4x4 or a 500 2x4/4x4? i jump some. mostly when i do ride it's in about 2-4 inches of snow. every once in a while i'll go on the trails too.

I love the Scrambler 400 because its a 2-stroke. It being 4x4 didnt really slow it down. For it being a 4x4 it was really fast. Their pretty good quads but if its cold it might start up hard.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

right now i have a trailblazer 250, i like the two strokes. so i'll probly stick to the 400. but since i usually ride in good conditons and not in deep snow. Would it still be good to go for the 4wd, or the 2wd and save weight?

Honestly, if you are going to be really hard on the thing, I would go for the 2x4. I love my Scrambler, but I bet I have put $750 into the 4x4 system through broken CV Joints, new Driveshafts, Torn CV Boots, and armature plates. I ride my quad really hard, and I expect having to replace parts, but if I had to do it all over again, I'd probably start with a 2x4 instead. Of course, this is all relative to the type of riding that you will be doing. If you won't be jumping much or working the suspension constantly the 4x4 might be just fine... Just giving you my 2 cents.
You also asked about a 400 vs. a 500. I think both are great, reliable engines. The oil-injection on the 400 works flawlessly for me (knocking on wood). The 400 is going to be a slightly more powerful motor, but can certainly be modified to far exceed that of a built 500. The 500 is going to have greater lower-end torque. Honestly, I just make sure the coolant is ok and the oil is filled on my 400. I think I've put less maintenance into the engine itself than most people with 4-strokes. If you are looking for a newer Scrambler, you are only going to find the 500s...
