Mods and reliability?

Hey Quadfather~
Yes, I believe the stock silencer would fit the HPD pipe. Just one problem there...I still have the stock silencer, but the one that came on 96 scramblers were faulty. There was a recall for them, but I just heard about this a few months ago. They get plugged up really quick and majorly decrease power! I soaked it in paint thinner for a few days and tried to burn some of the crap out of it, but that only helped for another 300 miles. Now I am using the AAEN silencer and it is by no means much louder than stock. It slipped right onto the stock pipe and even looks identical to the one HPD offers! Have you heard of anything that can be applied to the pipe to reduce the tinny sound? Thanks for the reply.

In automotive mags like Hot Rod they sell a header tape which is supposed to help with noise but its main pupose is to hold the heat in (which may be a benefit to ya also) to increase hp. I don`t know the name of it off hand. Sounds like it might work for you but I`m not sure how it would hold up to mud and water. HTH
