Default predator rear end...

well, i think its my seals and bearrings that went bad...or maybe the axle nut came loose or something, but when i was riding at Rivervalley in Council bluffs, IA last sunday i noticed that when i gothome my sprocket was covered in grease and all the parts around it.

well after i looked at it more the grease came out of the axle housing there in the middle obviously i just wanted to know why. i'm thinking that a new seals kit will hopefully take care of it.

another thin gi noticed is that my rear brake assembly was actually loose on the disc? odd....

New seals are what ya need indeed. Since your pulling the axle, you might as well change the bearings also. And as far as the caliper being loose and woobely, i have seen that on several predators. Some in good shape, some in not so good. But all 3 of them had woobely calipers. I am curious about this also.

i was recently looking into an ATK vr450 to replace my predator. (check other posts... it's a lemon lets leave it at that.) and among other maintenance, they said they should check the rear break quite frequently because it often needs tightened. wonder if maybe this is a point of maintenance that us Pred owners haven't fully come to realize yet.

Its not a bad idea to keep those bearings and seals in your axle fresh anyway(especially if they've ever seen water)......Just when you go back together, make sure everything is tight this time.......

You'll have to pack those bearings, don't forget!
