when to change spark plug?
#1
had my quad for 3 years now and never changed the plug. been through all sorts of mud and water and never had it fowl out. never has had a miss or anything. what do you all think? just leave it in until i notice signs of needing a new one or go ahead and replace it?
if i need to replace, can i get the plug at Autozone or something? what brand?
thanks

It wouldnt hurt to change it. But I've heard that its hard to reach in some cases. Anyway the stock plug is a NGK and it's best to stick with that. I would upgrade to the NGK Iridium plug. If I'm right the oringinal plug is a NGK BKR5E. That runs about $2.25 at oreilleys auto. They also carry the NGK Iridium, Thats the plug that I would go with. There so much better than the plain NGK. I even notice a little boost in power on my low end. If you decide to change it I would go with the NGK Iridium. That number is BKR5EIX. Cost wise is about $6.95. You mentioned Autozone. The couple of Autozone places that I checked didnt carry NGK. I get mine from Oreilleys auto.
Hope this helps.

if your not having problems w/ it and it doesnt have a million miles on it then why change it. if you do decide to change it make darn sure you clean out the area really good so that dirt doesnt fall in the hole. the extrode might be warn down some is probably what you see. just my 2 cents.
