Alot of the parts for the X2 are interchangeable with the sportsman, just be carefull when it comes to the rear....lots of differences back there. I just got my winch panel from the dealer....it fits perfectly over my warn 2.5.......id seriously recommend it, cutting the old one is way to hard just to save 6 bucks.
Sorry i dont have pictures of my winch install, just dont forget theres a positive battery cable on the left hand side behind the body panel, covered in shrink wrap that you have to find and connect to the battery. My instructions failed to mention that. Your install kit should come with a longer bolt to replace the one that holds the positive cable on your battery.

Ok ... I know this is going to sound stupid ... but ... the battery cable that you are referring to, is it on the left side while sitting on the quad or left side when looking at the front ... I have everything else connected but, cannot find the positive connection. I removed the small black pop-out panel on the left side when sitting on the quad, is it right there or do I need to remove more? I appreciate any help. I have pictures of where to find everything else that I took while doing the install and wish the instructions where a little better that came with the winch.

It is on the left side as you are seated on the quad. It should be right there, red cable with yellow shrink wrap on the end of it. If I remember right, it ran right along the frame.

Thank you very much ... I am going downstairs and locate it as soon as CSI is over ... haha ... damn, I can't wait to test it out ... had to wait on the Kapper's kits to get here which is awesome!

Thanks again Lawdog! I was able to get everything completed and tested it out yesterday ... working great ...woohooo!!! Now, hopefully I will never need it ... haha

As an update ... I called again yesterday about the rattling seat when in "one-up" and they said that there was still not a fix out for it and they are asking their Polaris Rep every week about it. Just though I would let everyone know. I guess it is really not a problem on mine except that it irritates me when rattling ... I have just been sticking a small sponge on top on the handle and it completely cures the rattle.

sneyeper, glad I could help. Does your rear seat have a big rubber strap that is mounted in the bed and straps to the seat back when in 1-up? Is your rattle actually in the handle? I will have to start paying more attention to mine. I haven't noticed a rattle in the seat itself. I have noticed the latches on the dump bed rattling when on rough terrain where the bed fights against them. I am going to cure that with some weather stripping. Good on ya' with the winch. You can't have a machine this heavy and not have one.

As jlewis has stated, the plastic parts that "jump" out of their respective positions, do not allow you to put the back 2 up seat down into its proper position. You literally have to bend them back to their near normal shape and then maybe you can get it closed. The other problem of the back rest on the X2 locking is all over the place. As I was explaining this on my one month old machine to the dealer, I walked over to the new ones he had on the lot and showed him that none of them worked properly either. He was taken aback! Gee, Polaris should check these things out more carefully before sending them out to the dealers! But, then again, there would be no challenge to the ride! The basic machine is number one and rides and handles like a champ. I guess a few seat problems aren't all that much to worry about, but would like Polaris to stand by their mistakes, and hopefully they will! Once we are back in the driver's seat, or "rider"s" seat as it is, we can go out and tame the wild trails and do what we had planned when we purchased our new toys! Happy Trails to you!

Yes, it is in the handle itself, so that is why I have a small sponge in there to keep it from rattling ... haha ... the plastic strap thing is a joke and they have already scraped that idea ... the guy at the dealer showed it to me and then starting laughing ... haha ... let the beatings continue. BTW, the gorilla winch is awesome and the install was no problem once I got a little guidance ... I still love this quad!! Now for the GPS mount ... woohooo ... and pull behind yard rake ... it never stops!!!

Let me know if you guys hear of a fix from Polaris.

What are they doing now instead of the plastic strap?

I went to the stealer to check out other X2 seats and they were the same...seems like a common problem...

sneyeper, I was going to pick up a lawn rake for ours yesterday but Tractor Supply was out when I got there. I really am liking this thing. There is starting to be a little friction around my house over who will be the one to use it at any given time. This could be the beginning of trouble.
