Just received the winch today,I figure for 100.00 cant go wrong.install dosnt look to be all that hard, but if anyone has any pointers please let us know.
The mounting plate that came with the winch is that just to mount the rollers to the winch or will that also mount to the winch to the atv? winch is going on a 04.5 sp500
Also thanks 2manytoys for the heads up on the winches

rsking,
The mount that you got with the winch will not work. Not even sure what you can use it for but most winch mounts that you can buy will have the mount for the fairlead. As for wiring it is pretty easy. Just make sure when you run all the wires that they are out of the way of moving parts, and ziptie them to the frame. Mount the contactor in the rear where it is out of the way of rocks and mud. Run and mount everything before you hook it to the battery. There is a small red wire on the switch that needs to go to a + power source. It does not explain this in the directions.

Just got off the phone with kfi to order the mount plate. It should be here by thrusday and will install the winch next weekend.
Kinds pissed that they lead one to think that you get the mounting bracket to mount the winch to the atv not the rollers to the winch. For 150.00 i shouldnt be that bent, but I am

Yes the KFI bramd Mounts fit into the Winch Cubby hole.
Dynamic VS Mechanical:
The Mechanical brake winch (ci/CE) was created for the must have osha required for all types of safety and rescue needs like park rangers and others.
The ci/CE upgrade can also be purchased.
If your winch has a mechanical brake it also has a Dynamic brake.
The ci/CE was originally created for Overseas use and then became a standard for Safety and rescue in the US and have now become available for the Consumer.
The ci/CE is a little harder to freespool that the standard ci
There are two types of brakes commonly used on ATV winches. Most all Warn ATV winches come standard with “Dynamic Braking”. This is a resistance type of brake that is created by the winch motor. This type of brake should hold approximately 500 pounds. If your ATV rolls back on steep inclines, you may want to check your winch controls for proper working order and/or add a mechanical brake to your winch. The mechanical brake is a friction type that is normally optional and is easy to install. The two brakes combined will normally create enough braking energy to be equivalent to the capacity of the winch.
Hope this helped
