Default SP800 w/warn 3.0 winch

I have been looking for a winch mount for my 06 sp800 but all i can find is 05 models. Is there any difference between the two?

The mounts for 05 and 06 are the same.

Make sure you get the winch for the pre-wired ATV. Most if not all 05 and 06 SP 700 and 800 bikes were prewired.

Yeah, what Matt said. Spend the x-tra cash on the Polaris/Warn 3.0.

I went the cheaper way, but would have rather spent the exta cake to avoid all the aggravation of wiring in the non-Polaris (universal) unit. It would have taken a tenth of the time to install.

I installed my 3.0xt using the prewire and a Kappers mount. I would have preferred using the Polaris/Warn kit but I got a much better deal on the xt at the time. I had to cut a notch in one of the walls around the terminals to get the prewired end to fit. If you look at the contactor and the prewired end you will see where to cut. This exposed the guts of the contactor so I sealed the hole with epoxy and sealed the posts and seams with liquid electrical tape. I tested it for leaks by submerging it and watching for bubbles. No bubbles. It took me longer to figure out what I was going to do than it did to do it. I have been using the winch pretty regularly without trouble. I understand that this is not a preferred method, but when I got the winch and weighed the amount of work that it was going to take to install it conventionally as opposed to the way that I did it, I decided that I was willing to take the risk. I really wanted to use the prewire. I had planned on waterproofing the contactor anyway, I just added a couple of more steps. If/when this contactor goes bad, I will try to replace it with the Polaris/Warn contactor assuming that you can buy it as a replacement part. I hope this helps as I see you already have the winch and you haven't specified whether it is the Polaris version or not. Good luck.
