Default X2 gas tank fit 05 800?

I haven't researched this at all, just thinking out loud. Any opinions?
Maybe a Polaris tech or someone who works at a dealership could help with this one?

Bump. How about a parts manual for the X2? I should have mine in a month and if all else fails, I will study it and let you all know.

Anyone find out about this yet? My guess is it will not work without some serious custom work. Let me know. Just over 4 gals pisses me off!

Instigater, after actually getting my hands on the X2, there is no way. The machines are laid out quite differently and I just don't see any way that the tank would work. I really wanted it to work as well. With the extra wheelbase of the X2 the entire driveline sits back further than on the other Sportsman models. The X2 tank dips down infront of the engine. It is a monster. If you look closely at your 800 I think that you will see that the tank is already contoured to the engine. Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news. I know that I almost lost sleep getting excited about the possibility.

You’re right, no way it will work. The X2’s motor is mounted significantly rearward compared to the single seaters and the fuel tank takes advantage of this space.

I've "expanded" my gas tank by mounting two one gallon tanks on the front rack. Not very pretty but it gets the job done. Already had the opportunity to use one of them.
