The 07's have a reinforced rear subframe for the rear arms so that shouldn't be an issue, I would recommend an 07 just on that alone unless the 06's get strengthend. I replaced (warranty) my rear subframe with the updated subframe due to cracked welds.
I'm quite happy with mine overall, correcting some minor issues and some minor tweaking has made this a good ride for what it is.....

Some things to know:
Has no reserve in the fuel tank.
The fuel valve has to be reached from the front of the quad and is on the bottom of the gas tank, major PITB.
There now appears to be some concern over a couple of reports of a mounting tab in the rear suspension snapping off.
The headlights are either one or off, no hi or low beams.
No electric cooling fan worries me.
It's pretty obvious they cut corners where they could to shave a few bucks off the price.

We live in different climates, when you ride at slow speeds in mud and sand in 100 degree heat with high humidity overheating can be a problem, i would feel much better with an external oil radiator/cooler, i'm selling it soon anyways and won't touch another Polaris so what i think doesn't matter anyways.

Doesn't the Hawk eye have the Polaris dry sump system like the rest of there ATVs? With the dry sump system the oil tank its self acts as a oil cooler so you would not find a oil cooler on a small dry sump 4 stroke engine (maybe Harley Davidson).
How dry sump works vs wet sumps.
Again not sure about the Hawyeye but the external oil tank on my Sportsman has fins to help cooling of the oil also.

Hey limitedPred, the oil cooler is a $239 option/accessory for the Hawkeye, just thought you might want to know its on the PO PO website..........All these negatives and problems have steered me away from a Hawkeye, they might be better for 07 but Im not waiting.........Good luck
