Default X2 – Wife not Pleased With 2-up Seat

We have been riding double on a sportsman since 1997, using the Kimpex Seat/Compartment unit. Some of our excursions have lasted all day.

After viewing the X2 in the showroom, my wife concluded she would not like to be riding “on that thing” for extended periods - she was expecting something like the 2-up seat found on our Edge Touring.

And what about the loss of my storage compartment?

Is this something Polaris needs to fix or is the seat ok?

For my use, I think that the second seat will be okay. Usually ride 2-up just for short relays. Besides, how comfortable is the passenger going to be? I ride on rough terrain and the passenger has to be an active participant in the ride. Not alot of time to relax. I consider the seat a compromise for the versatility of the machine. I think the Bombar's seats are a little more comfortable, but you don't get nearly the versatility out of them. The X2 may not be the best machine if your focus is on the 2-up ride.

Lawdog, I'am curious on what kind of mileage you are getting on a tank of gas? Especially now that the X2 has 6 gallon capacity. My 05 500 HO carb gets about 80 miles to the tank. This of course is gravel roads ATV trails that are rocky and muddy. Avg speed about 35-40 RPMs about 4000-5200. Any other X2 owners I would be interested on what you get as well.

TheRedRhino,

I didn't mean to mislead you if I did. I don't have it yet. It came into the dealer's yesterday and I'm picking it up on Tuesday. I will probably get some miles in on it next Thursday and I will keep track and post up letting you know.

Congrats on your upcoming new purchase. Please tell all after your ride. Now, I'm a new 800 owner, how is your gas mileage on your 800?

Liam51, going riding today. Haven't seen anything stellar yet. Only have about 30 hours/200 miles on it. I think I'm about average so far, about 13-14 mpg or so. I have read on here that it will get a bit better. I am going to have to add some more fuel storage. The wife and I are talking about taking a trip to one of the big trail systems somewhere this summer after shaking out her X2. I love my 800. Power galore, excellent ride, proven to be pretty tough so far. I do alot of slow, technical, rough riding and have never had a problem with my heavy Polaris tank.

No problem Lawdog, I have look at the X2 black/silver but haven't seen what the RED one looks like yet. Not sure if it is all red or like the black/silver. I'am curious sincethe X2 has a larger tank that the gear ratio in the transmission is different the transmission in the 500 HO?

Thanks for any upadates. I too ridethe same as you mention above

I have a Red X2 (picture) and have gone thru two tanks of gas and so far am getting approx 50 miles to the tank. Not too happy with that because it comes out to about 8mpg but i'm hoping it will get better.

My 800EFI get about 13 - 14mpg as well. On my fourth tank of gas so far. What idiot at Polaris decided to put a 4 gal tank in this machine. I am hoping that the X-2 tank may fit. I have not yet contacted Polaris regarding compatability of the two tanks.

Has anyone else researched this issue?

Thanks

Paul
