Does a drive spring change make a difference
#1
I am wanting a bit more snap in low and mid for my wifes 01 Scrammy 500 2x4. She really does not use the top end power any way. Dont want to do the whole primary, secondary, helix, weights thing.
Is just a plain old primary change going to make any difference at all?
BTW: Bike is bone stock

Yes.....just changing out the front primary spring IS worth doing. It's easy, inexpensive and makes a nice difference. Additionally, you have many to choose from.......mild to wild so to speak.
I changed my stock BLUE/GREEN primary spring for an EPI PINK because after some research the EPI PINK seemed to offer the best chance of doing what I wanted which is a little bit more RPM while operating under load at slow speeds without adversely affecting anything else. That's what I got and I'm very pleased with this simple modification. My machine is now better in technical stuff and is particularly better at climbing hills.
I don't know if this will be the best spring for your application and I'd recommend a little research into the spring rates etc.....but in general a primary spring change is most definately worth while.
Polaris has a GREEN spring and a WHITE spring that may fit the bill for you as well. Other manufacturers are EPI and DALTON.
Good Luck, Bob

I would go with a Polaris white. It is a good inprovment to a stock 500 Scrambler. The EPI pink wont help much on the bottom and I wouldnt recomend it for a sport bike.Though it is good for the utes.
