Default Polaris Brake Problem

I have a 2000 Polaris 325 Magnum. When I was riding I noticed how low my brake fluid was, shortly after my brakes stoped working there was no pressure on that handbrake. So I added the dot 3 brake fluid and I still had not pressure on the handbrake. Could you please help!!

sounds like your master cylinder got air in it, you need to check that you have some pads left and bleed the system out. If the pads are gone and the calipers are still good, by simply compressing the piston and installing new pads, it may just put enough fluid back into the reservior to work, Just add what fluid is needed after the work is done.

if you had to add some brake fluid you have to have a leak some where. fluid doesnt just where out. follow all the lines from start to finsh and look for fluid leaking. does the foot brake still work?

just another note, if your pads are completely worn out then the fluid would be a little low, but you do not need to add any. by putting new pads back on by compessing the piston back in will push the fluid back to the right level. if you add fluid and then try pushing the piston back in you can blow your seals. you do not get air in the system unless theirs a leak somewhere.

on my 2000 sportsman, I lost my brakes, after I put new pads, and bled the system. Turned out that the master cylinder rod got stuck. I used needle nose pliers to pull it out and have not had a problem since. ERIK

If it's a 2000, might not be a bad idea to flush out the old brake fluid and replace it with new.

Just replaced the brakes on the Boss. I say brakes and not pads, because there wasn't any pad left. May be time for a new set for you too.

you must have a leak otherwise you would not air in the lines. there is no way to get air in the brake system unless there is a void of fluid. if your leaking it, you should see fluid some where on the lines or the caliper or maybe the master cyclinder.
