Default Whats the difference?

I am looking at buying a used 4-wheeler. One is a 2000 sportsman and the other is a 2002 sportsman. What is the difference between the two? Thanks for any help that you can give.

BIG difference. The 2000 is a non-ho..then 2002 is an HO..the 2002 has much more power!

I believe that in 2001, the newer 500 HO was introduced. I owned a 99' 500 and traded it for the newer 01' 500 HO at the time. WOW, whaddah difference I noticed!!!! I suppose that there could have been a few 2000 500 HO's offered at the end of that year, but I was looking real hard at the time to upgrade and remember having to wait for the 01' model year to do so......at least up in Maine.

Yes we are talking about a 500. Is there a differance is in the shifting and the slow range power, that you can even notice. I looked at some articles on this and they said that there was a change there too.

I go riding with 2 buddys both with 500 sportsmans. One has a 2000 500 and the other has a 2004 500 H.O. carb model. They have raced countless times and everytime the 500 h.o. pulls out to a big lead off the start but then loses it around 50 or so and the non-h.o. pulls past and just keeps going.

2001 was the first year for the Sportsman 500 H.O. Spyder, I don't know what to say...Like liam51 said, I suppose a few could have slipped by as a late 2000 model.

I have a 2000 500 and a 2003 500 HO. The Ho will pull away it is faster....But the 2000 starts up every time without having to mess with the choke or wait for it to warm up a bit. The 2000 has been the machine I can always count on!
