Vision Wheels....
#1
Has anyone tried the 14" Vision Wheels? I was thinking about getting them. Do they really help handling that much and how much more ground clearance could you expect? I Love the black powder coat ones.....
Heres the link www.visionwheel.com/v2002/atvwheels.htm.
thanks

I bought the 14" Vision wheel/26" Kenda Bounty Hunter package availible from Polaris. I rode them for about 300 miles and experience an on-going persistant problem. They would break the bead and go flat quickly out on the trail. It happened multiple times with all four tires/wheels.....major pain in the arss.
I was fortunate enough to have a good dealer that gave me a full refund after the warranty period had gone by and I purchased a new set of 12"x26" wheels/tires from him.
The 14" Vision rims were absolutely gorgous cast aluminum high quality beauties. My experience led me to the conclusion that the 14" rim/26" tire combo simply puts too much stress/abuse on the tire bead when riding over abusive terrain such as rocks, ruts, roots etc.... For this reason I will never go with 14" rims again. I do not blame the Vision rims because they are excellent quality wonderfully machined great looking rims. The problem was the 14" rim/26" tire combo.......bad mix.

Thanks for the info... Do you think 27" would work better or just stay with 12" rims, I believe Vision also makes the 12s? I do alot of trail riding and dont need that problem!!

I would guess that it either would not happen with 27s....or at least less frequently. However, I found no advantage to the 14" rims unless of course "bling" is your sole objective. It is said that the 14s improve the handling. I think that's over-rated having had both set-ups. In fact the 26"x12" ITP Type 7s/Mudlite XTRs I now have handle better than the 26"x14" Vision/Kenda Bounty Hunters I got rid of. The steering is crisper/lighter and it turns into corners quicker. I have more confidence now when doing the twisty trails at speed.
IMHO....and based on my previous experience....if you ride trails with rough stuff then you're better off to go with the 12" rims.
BTW.......what kind of tires you considering?
