Default Slower times?need help

I bought my 400 Tb last year and i put a milled head, jets, bored carb, clutch kit, took stuff off for weight, reeds and reed valves, and i think thats it.But it already had just a DG pipe on it and other than that it was stock but it ran 6.0 in 300 ft before i put all the other stuff on.After i put everything on it has gotten a lot slower.now 6.3.I need help.I am going to change the secondary spring back to stock to see if that helped because thats what i was told to do.My first race of the year where i race is next weekend. Please help.

You may not have the secondary clutch wound correctly. It might be shifting out to quick or not quick enough. Also the pipe could possible hold it back some. I'm going through the same things right now with mine, it is aggervating but hopefully we will get them lined out soon.

I know you probally dont wanna hear this but, if your still running the DG pipe... scrap it. PM "polarisman400" on here. He has 2 hpd trail pipes he would probably sell ya. One more thing, if your serious about racing, get a tach.

Another thing to check is jetting. If it's lean it will have low mph and its bad of course. If your rich at all your 60 foot times could easily be off 3 tenths and you may not feel it. Look at you old timeslips if you have any to compare where you are slower. 60 ft,MPH etc.

You need to get a tach. Without being there it's hard to point you in the right direction that is why a tach is important, can you tell if it feels revy or slugish, anything can you desribe what are you feeling. If drags are all your after run a shallow helix, soft secondary spring, good stiff primary and pull as much weight as possible. You shouldn't hit peak rpm until you reach the end of the run this will be a good base line drag set-up not much good for anything else but will work great for drags.

Well i raced yesterday and i was really suprised.I ran a 6.15 spinning and fishtailing down the track.I had a hard time keeping straight because i broke my thumb and wrist so it was hard to steer. And it was my right arm thats in a cast.(i flipped the throttle upside down and used my finger for the throttle). But anyways the only thing differant is that i do not have the milled head on it and i am only using 87 octane instead of 93 or 112.And i still havent changed the clutches yet.So i dont know what is going on.Anyone with any idea? Thanks Jeff
