Default Sportsman X2 Vibrator.

My X2 has a vibration that starts very suddenly at about 60km/h in high and around 25km/h in low gear. I finally took it in to my dealer and they replaced the primary clutch. They said they test drove it and it was better and the only vibrations left were normal, as they were driving it on paved road. Now that I have tried it I still have the vibration but not as bad (I think, might just be phsyciological). I thought that that a vibration happening at a given speed would indicate the secondary clutch was out of balance....And that a vibration at a given RPM would mean primary clutch. The Rpm's don't seem to matter, the vibration always starts at the same speed. What do you guys think....primary, secondary, both or something else.

No idea. But I am interested in hearing what you find out. I haven't had any such problem. I hate to hear that for you. Good luck.

Have you inspected the entire drive line for broken, misadjusted, or missing parts?

I have not inspected anything. It vibrated since day 1 and it is under warranty, so I really don't think I should have to go looking for problems and fixing them myself. I am just looking for some insight from others to confirm my suspicion of a secondary clutch problem That way when I go back to the dealer I can explain my problem better and the likely solution.

Usually people of these forums know more than the dealers do, so I asked here first. The dealer changed the primary and told me any vibrations left are normal. I have rode a few other 06 sportsmans and they have no vibration like mine.

How's yours Lawdog ? No major shaking all the way up to 50?
I have taken the backseat apart ( the butt part ) and put a spring onto the latch to stop it from making a buzzing noise. The rest of the box still rattles a bit, but that one latch was really anoying. If they just fixed the vibrations I would be extremely happy with the X2.

I think that the single cylinder engines may produce a little more vibration. I notice just a hair more in the X2 than in my 800. I understand the point that you're making and I wish that I could be of more help. The only major bed rattle I get is where the fender on the front side of the box vibrates on the dump bed. I am going to try putting some weather stripping there, and on the bottom of the bed along the frame. I am used to riding old noisy clunkers, so about anything that isn't rattling my teeth out is okay by me. I just accept a certain amount of the vibration because I am sitting right on top of the engine. If I could ride it, I may be a little more help to you. Does the dealer have another that you could ride briefly to compare yours too?

I have foam stuck between the fenders and racks on all four corners to kill the vibrations. Had to put extra weather stripping on the rear box to keep the cover from vibrating. The worst were the snorkles for the air box and the CVT rubbing together but a piece of garden hose fixed that. I think it's just the nature of the beast but a little work can fix it.....

I have to do something with that rattle on the latch for the seat. I don't have any annoying sounds in 2-up, just when I use it as a truck bed. That handle that you pull up on just rattles away. I have no vibration problems at all. Just that damned rattle.

Good ideas with the weather stripping. I will try that for the other rattles in the dump box.
I guess I should have described my problem as a "shake" more than a vibration. It feels like something is going to fly apart. I am scared to go over 60km/h... it feels like something might explode and come up through the seat into my a$$. Have you ever seen a flywheel explode in a car at 6500 rpm? Goodbye feet.

I left the X2 at home today and took the wifes 450 Sportsman today. I am very impressed with it so far. Smooth, shake free ride and I can go over 60km/h on it too.

So the X2 is going back to the dealer on Monday and I am not taking it back until the problem is fixed.

Keep the X2 info coming. I made up a rear bumper to protect the box from rear end collisions. It moves with the dump box and clears the tailgate. It's not the greatest but it works. Anyone else have a rear bumper yet? Will the ATP rear bumper work on the X2 ?

Milkman, can you get us a pick of your bumper on the X2?
