sport 400
#12
My brother has a 400 Xpress, about the same thing as the 400 sport, only with racks & low range. Has 5000 miles on it & the only thing he put into his so far is a new belt & chain. The belt was still going, but he burned it trying to pull something WAY too heavy for high range.
I think the front clutch buttons may be connected with the belt cover not sealing. I have been told that moisture getting in the clutch will cause the buttons to wear prematurely. If you let it go too long & gouge the towers with metal-to-metal wear, new buttons will not last long, either.
What year is your friends? The newer ones have better tie rod ends, swingarm bushings, and so forth.

Cant talk about the new(er) polaris wheelers, but I had a 93 that was the biggest POS I have ever seen, looked great, was in immaculate condition, broke down every time I rode it. At least my weedwacker always gets me home :-) I dis polaris cuz from my experience they are nothing but trouble. I even came on here to see the "up's" and "downs" before buying my polaris.... I diddnt listen to the people that said not to buy one, I lost around $1,000 on the deal, I learned my lesson. Guess you'll just have to learn yours the hard way like I did..
