mobile one vs Polaris brand
#2
I put M1 0W-40 in my Polaris, and I use it in both my cars.
There is nothing special about the Polaris oil or anything. There are some special motorcycle oils out there designed for wet clutches, but this is not the case on the Polaris. I see no need for the Polaris oil, just go with any good synthetic oil and you're good to go.

i use mobil one in my autos, but i stick w/ the polaris oil in the wheeler. price differnce to me isnt worth the hassle of wondering if its good enough and w/ a 3 yr warr. their wont be any reason they can say the oil is at fault. just my own take on it.

Been using Mobil 1 for years without any problems, or warranty issues. Just like an automobile, they can't void the warranty because you used a different brand. Changing the reccomended weights would give them a reason to.

Perky,
I too am using Mobil 1 0W-40 with a Wix 51356 oil filter runs great!

Be very careful when generalizing "POLARIS OIL" because the Polaris PS-4 oil designed for the predator is the only oil the will properly lubricate clutch, transmission & the motor. Ive seen horror stories first hand. However I do not think this is as important with the automatic machines. There has been much debate as to what specific properties the ps-4 has that makes it work the way it does but the fact is there is no other oil that can properly duplicate its performance. .02c

I was told by my dealer mechanic that the Polaris oil is the shizzle because of the particular blend of misting agents it contains. It "mists" and provides more of a uniform coating than most. I cannot substantiate that with any proof but when asked what fluids I could use to replace the stock stuff with, he told me whatever I preferred with the exception of the engine, transmission, and I believe front hub all for the same reason.
