Default 500 HO/EFI Gas Mileage

I have a 2004 700 efi and I get about 100 miles on one tank of gas. I definitely don't baby the throttle, but I mix things up alot. Some cruising at 30-40 mph and some rock crawling/Mud holes. At the end of the 90-100 miles, the tank is on fumes.

I am getting about 14-16 mpg with the 800. Probably low 20s with the X2. Haven't done the hard math on the X2 yet. I'll be adding a fuel pack on the 800 before we go on any long trips.

nemeski out of curiosity how did you break your bikes in? Does the way you break in an engine a factor in fuel mileage? Just a thought.

I have a 04-1/2 500 HO and working it like i normally do i get about 40 miles in a tank. I have know idea how you guys are riding to get 150 miles on a tank but you either ride like a girl or are getting alot better fuel then i am.
I put in a few pretty good sized food plots this past weekend (about 2 acres) and went through about 10 gallons.

Don't worry so much about mileage guys. Figure out what your own ride has for a range and stick to it or bring additional fuel with you. With me its pretty simple...when it needs gas I put more into it. We don't ride these things for the miles per gallon, we do it for the smiles per gallon.

I'm getting around 30mpg (that's canadian gallons) on my 06 500EFI .. the bike has a 15.6l tank which is 3.43 imperial gallons .. so given that .. my range of normal riding .. fast/slow/technical/bog would get me around 102 miles. My second fill up was at 59miles and had burned 9.2l of fuel (2.02gal) .. so that's pretty close on 30mpg, and again .. times the capacity of the tank .. range should be around 100 miles. Varying terrain and loadings will affect one way or another of course. Just wish there was a way to manually open the secondary sheave for long-flat trail rides .. get those rpm's down a bit .. currently runs around 4800 - 5200 at 30mph .. depending on up or down hill
