There are a few things you could do, but the cost vs gain would not be beneficial for you as you have an 06 500efi. On the good note, you have the best, most durable, toughest, bulletproof, last forever, can't beat it engine ever placed in an atv. That along with efi, and the 06 800efi clutch means you have the best of every world. Sure your not going to outrun any bigbores, but you'll have a machine that will run forever without much if any maintenance. I have a buddy with a 1998 sp500 that has over 15k miles, and nothing has ever been done to this thing. Nothing, it has never been to the shop for even a tuneup. These fuji engines are better than honda's! If you won't more speed, I'd suggest you move up to a sp700 or 800efi, or strap a rope to the back of a bomb outlander. I would reccommend you to not add anything to your 500efi. Now if it were not efi, I'd say a clutch kit, jet kit, and a k&N, but that's not going to help you.

-Bomb has announced their 2007 lineup with the addition of an OL500cc V-Twin and a renegade 800cc sport quad with 4x4.
-Polaris has rumored a sp850cc
-Yamaha will have a new grizz for 07. I think it's going to host the raptors 700cc single with efi, but I've heard they're developing a v-twin also.
-Kawasaki is working on a bf with efi.
-Suzuki has reported nothing brewing for 07.
-Honda has reported nothing new for 07.

Let the shopping begin!!!!!

The 05' 800 primary clutch has a smaller diamater shaft, due to the new ebs design. What this does is it allows you to start off o n a lower gear ratio, in turn giving you more bottom end and better acceleration. For the 05' and 06' carbed 500's we have cltuch kits done, cams, filters, head porting, and slip -ons done. We are working on full exhasut right now and expect it in a month or 2 from now. For the 06' 500 efi we plan on having all of the parts listed above but we are in the process of getting our efi 500 right now adn I should know more about that in the weeks to come. You guys can e-mail me for updates @ tech@speedwerx.com or I will make a post or 2 about these parts when they are complete too. I know most of the parts will bolt right on already becasue the fit hasn't changed we just need to make sure the efi system is going to cooperate with the mods.

nlwarrior01,

I am thinking about changing my 05 500 primary clutch out with the 06 500efi primary, which is as I said the same as the 06 800. I have a question for you. Before I go out and spend over $300 in doing this, does it feel like your 06 500efi engages right at throttle? The older designed clutches engage about 1800-2000 rpms, and they idle about 1200rpms. Therefore you would have to get the rpms up before the bike would ever sart to move. I know the 06 700 and 800 with your clutch does not do this, like mine. They will engage immediately at throttle, but they also have a diff secondary clutch where yours and mine have the same. I wanted to know how the 06 500efi feels?

I know in low gear the engagement is immediate, in high gear I couldn't tell you as what RPM it happens, but as soon as I touch the throttle she moves .. with the digital tach it's kinda hard to tell for sure since the rpm's rise so fast. But it doesn't behave like a snowmobile where the engine revs and then the machine starts moving. It's more like an automatic car ..

Even mine reacts immediately in low, but the 06 700 and 80 react in high as mine does in low, but with a higher gearing of course. Does this describe yours also, or not?

Hey Sean,

You should do a double check on your odometer. I double checked mine last night (going to triple check next fine day) and what the dealer told me was in miles is actually in km. So my fabulous fuel economy just took a nose dive, as did my cruising range. Instead of getting around 100 - 120 miles to a tank I'll be getting that in km. Pretty big diff.!!
