Default coolant leak on 04 700

I just found my coolant leak. Its dripping out of a little hole by the waterpump. Is my pump going bad or just a seal behind the impellor? going on a ride this weekend Help?

well, I got my engine torn down- the impellor is all gacked up, so the seal behind it is bad also . My cover is plastic so I think I have the old style (problematic) cover as the 05 800 in my garage has a nice 1 piece "metal" cover.

Yep, thats the old style cover, mine was replaced with teh nice metal one under warranty when new. Yours should have come with teh updated one i would think....

If its dripping out of the wheep hole the pump may be bad, try the cover /seal first and see????

in my parts book it shows just an impellor and seals on the timing shaft, hopefully a nearby dealer has parts cause I am going on a trail ride at about noon!

itstillruns , I have an 04 700 with the metal cover mine looks like the seal is leaking. Their is a rubber cover seal and a seal inside as well I got both one $3:00 and $30.00 I'm going to replace them both abd see what happens. Now I didn't mention to you I only have 200 miles on this machine. Keep me posted as well.

i pulled my flywheel off with a harmonic balancer puller. as long as you put everything back together the same way you took it apart it will not effect your timing.

well I replaced the cover seal, the impellor(trashed) and the innerseal total= about 1 hour and about 75$. I got on the trail and things were fine till the radiator hose that rubs on the frame rubbed through and caused a real nice leak! ChCHECK this hose- mine wore through the "guard and hose. My buddies 05 800 is already through the guard.(the hose that runs from thermostat cover to radiator left side of motor))

sportsmans have the tendency to do that, rubbing from the engine shake against the frame. a good fix is splice in a steel pipe that fits in the rad hose and clamp it. or if you ever want a temp gauge, put the T fitting there.
