Default Half shaft info

I bought a after market half shaft for my sportsman 500 came with cv and yoke. When I installed it it seamed to short. I pulled it back out and measured it against my old one. The new one was 1/2 inch shorter. I talked to the supplier and they told me if my orginal one had BTB stamped on the end it should fit , if it does not then i would have to buy OEM. So I can not find BTB stamped anywhere on my old one and my parts book list it as a BTB. So now Iam confused which way I need to go . Has any one else ever heard of this? Any help would be great

It should say BTB or NEAPCO USA stamped on the where the large end of the boot clamps. Polaris used two suppliers for driveshafts for a while and it makes it interesting. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and go to the dealer for parts. A complete driveshaft with boots and all is a better option sometimes. Assemblies are always a better price than indvidual parts. Charlie
