Ran my Trail Boss really deep in the water 5 days ago. Cleaned the bike up pretty good and everything seems fine and it run normally but, the drive belt is still squeaking on idle. If you grab the cover to the drive belt and move it, or push it in just a little, the squeek will go away. What is up with that and what should I do to eliminate this. Or will it just go away when the belt dries out? Help!!!

Cheak the fasteners holding the cover to the frame, you should not be able to move it.

Tim1...
Do I need to take the front cover off in order to see if the fasteners are connected tightly. Which menas I need to take a bunch of plastic off the bike to get to it, correct?

i had a magnum 325 4x4 that basically the same thing happened to..if you pushed in on the top of the cover towards the rear tire it would stop..i talked to polaris and they said at some point the cover had been overheated and caused some warping,i couldnt understand how that happened.. what i ended up doin was mounting a clip and spring to the pvt cover bolt and secured it to the frame of the quad, that way it held it up enough to stop the sqeaking and i didnt have to replace the cover..i showed it to the dealer when i traded it and he complimented me on how cheap and easy a fix it was versus replacing the cover..i used an L shaped pice of metal so it wouldnt rub and wear a hole thru the cover and put the spring on the frame in an existing hole

I think you just take the side panel off and you should be able to see if fasteners are all there.I could move my clutch cover in and out and it turned out to be the top center screw and nut was gone. These fasteners just hold the back half of the cover to the bike and has nothing to do with the water tight seal.

Took off cover and found that the factory had put the gasket on wrong causing the cover to set lower and off center which was rubbing the inside of the belt cover. Put it back together and it is fine now. Thanks.
