My 500HO I got for $5500 plus tax. It came to just over $6000 US funds. (with $500 rebate)
The 450 was like $100 cheaper. If it was me I would get the 500 instead of the 450.
As far as the winch you can pick up a winch mount on ebay for 48.00us and a winch for about 325 to 350. The Pure polaris winch the only difference what I have been told is that it is the prewired version, kinds like a plug and play.
The non Polaris Warn winch you have to run a + wire from the winch to the battery with the contactor mounted under the right front wheel well.
I am buying a Warn 3000 CE here right fast. I am not sure if it is compatable with the plug and play system. The warn 3000ce (mechanical brake) is cheaper then buying the 2500 warn from a dealer. From what I have heard the install is pretty easy also.
If you havent got the Atv yet I would check into taking the rebate and buying the winch outright.
I winder if someone could get a shorter + wire to run from the winch to the contactor and ditch the long + wire. Like I said I dont have one yet.

I picked up my first 2006-Sprtsmn 450 for $5800 and the second one for
$5400. But that is without state taxes. I live in Maryland and rode
2 hours to West, VA and saved close to $1000 (near).Ridersville
Cycle, their sales, and customer service is outstanding, they even
gave me better prices than anyone else on the winch and front
brush guard/rear bumpers. I bought a replacement tire there too.
Great service/price and a fun ride down going thru moutains of Western MD/WVA.
But I bought both without the winches though. Question for you
Viper65 what noticeable advantages do you gain with the 500HO?
Except for the obvious 49 more cc's. When comparing the
two for me I couldn't justify the more costs. But I did notice
for $1300 more dollars from the 500 to the 700 you get so
much more bike. For me I would of just went for the 700
vs. 450 to 500. Now I wish I did in some ways but I am
still very happy with my 450 power/speed and gas mileage.
Thanks,

Sorry Caper lost the thread, we ride mostly on a chunk of crown land between Baysville to Vankougnet to Dorset to Haliburton. Go to Mikes Mart or something and get a Backroads map book. It will show most of the main roads but the good riding is off the beaten path. One thing to warn about riding there, There is a provintial park that is in the East end of this area that if the MNR catches you, they will give you a ticket! Thats where a GPS and Backroads map will help. If you have any other questions let me know
