Polaris Engine brake!
Does the new 2006 sportsman 450 have an engine brake? In the polaris 2006 model atv handbook ,which list all 2006 models, it shows a picture of the polaris variable transmission and has the EBS listed on it?Which I take it stands for Engine Braking System, am I right!!!But the Atv Guide book I bought for 2006 says take it easy on steep slopes becauce(new sportsman 450) it does not have a engine brake!!!!Who is right!!!!Did polaris make a mistake showing this picture on this model page? Thanks........caperinmuskoka

Polaris Engine brake!
Hi..
When I bought my machine the EBS was not installed. As part of the deal I had them install the EBS for $125.00. If I left the dealer and rode the machine the cost would be upwards of a few hundred dollars. I want to say they told me like around $400.00. IT was like over a month and a half ago. I am not positive about the amount but one thing for sure it was way way more to have it installed after it was ridden. The $125 the dealer told me was to pay for the shipping to return the old clutch and have a EBS shipped back to them. SHipping $60 each way. I would guess the reason being it was cheaper was due to the fact that the chutch being new showed no wearand wasnt dirty. Mine was pulled from the crate with 3 tenths of a mile on it.
As far as the EBS on mine I have no regrets having it installed. Going down steep hills it is nice.
IMO If i wouldnt have got it installed I would not be a happy camper.
Look on the left side of your atv. the drivers side. On the clutch cover it should look something like this.
It will say EBS on it or it wont.
