Default Helmet Use...Or Lack Of

I recommend everyone get a full HANS device and restrain yourself to the quad, you can never be too safe. Ask Dale Earnhardt how his helmet helped him out.

I will wear the helmet while riding "high risk", but when i'm putting around - not being able to hear the idiot tearing around the blind corner because i have a helmet on is a bigger risk to me.
That is such a crap argument. Ask James"Bubba" Stewart the same question after nose diving that jump last Memorial Day weekend in Mt. Morris. I doubt he would be walking, might be pushing up daisies though. How much sooner in Earnhardt's career would he have died if he never wore a helmet? Citing one sad, freak accident is freakin' lame.

Like I said earlier this is the attitude that leads to the injury/fatality stats associated with ATV use...as well as motorcycles and snowmobiles.

lol, some of you are too funny. One size doesn't fit all, one solution does not work for every situation. A reasonable adult is capable of making reasonable choices. Just because some clown does a 40' jump without a helmet and wrecks, has no bearing whatsoever on me or my riding situation.

Yea but the point is that you cannot assume that you know each and every hazard that you may encounter while riding that has the potential to cause you injuries that could be prevented by helmet use. The funny part is when individuals think that they can predict the future and be all knowing about the hazards they will be exposed to.

Opinions are like a$$holes...everybody has one and they are all different. BTW - one of my buddies emailed me a couple of pics yesterday of a good looking lady who had 2 of them. It looked pretty weird. Oh yea - no disrespect meant to the anally challenged cuz this must be a real problem after a visit to the loo...which one do you wipe?

It is funny how people will argue a point till it sounds so stupid you just want to give up!!! People don't wear helmets because its thier choice. A stupid choice but thier choice. We need to make thier choice not affect us. So here is my soulution. A adult person riding a fourwheeler, motorcycle, or whatever, that does not want to wear a helmet should sign a waiver to there insurance, and the state. This waiver should say that it was thier choice not to were a helmet, and they don't expect any compensation when they spend any time in the hospital from a head injury, or god forbid they orphen a child the state would not have to pay that child or spouse any soical security. This would at least take the finacial burden off us. Now I forgot about the waiver to the gov't so they don't try to take out four wheelers away because people are getting killed for not being safe.(ie. three wheelers).

That all i will say.

My biggest issue here was for the safety of his children. He is old enough to know better, the children are not. Hopefully he will follow through (as he said) and protect his children by making them wear their helmets.
