RCR Stage 1 Kit
#1
my dad doesn't really want me to get the kit because he said that changing the carb will burn more gas w/ less oil and it will burn out the cylinder walls and the pistons a lot faster. he also said that it will make it less reliable. so to allof u mechanical guys out there, is this true?

If you do not tune it or jet it correctly it will do everything your dad said it would.
If you build it correctly, keep it jetted perfect, which means changing jets when it gets cold and then changing them again when it gets warm and maybe even occassionaly changing them at other times, you bike will run stronger and perfect for as long as you maintain it correctly.

well i won't have a problem keeping it jetted correctly because my dad use to work on engines all the time and my uncle works on motorcycles for a living and he said that he would put everything on for me

I haven't heard of anyone on this forum that has had problems with reliability after installing the Stage 1 kit. The jetting is important but it sounds like you have some mechanics in the family to help you with that. Maybe your dad thinks you will just ride faster with the Stage 1 so he's trying to discourage you. Check your plug periodically to make sure you're not running too lean and keep your air filter clean and you should be ok with it.
