Default Any common problems with the SP800?

In reading all the forums I don't see much going wrong with the 800.

Seems the are one of the best deep water rigs stock and I haven't seen many drivetrain related issues.

Has Polaris become one of the most reliable machines?

I think it kind of depends on the year of your machine. I have an 05 sp800 and did a lot of research before and after I bought it as well as had some problems that seemed typical for that year. It appears that generally Polaris addressed those problems with their 06 version. The right side removable plastic panel would melt due to no clearance with the exhaust. Polaris fixed mine under warranty with no further problems yet. Battery failure has been an issue. Again fixed under warranty with no further problems. Some brake reservoirs on the hand brake would leak at the mating surface of the cap in my case due to fluid above the insert gasket and therefore not contained. I cleaned and fixed mine myself but others have reported dealer replacement of the unit under warranty. The 05 wheel and tire combo seemed to be prone to cuts near the bead/rim area. I have not had that problem and Polaris purportedly remedied that with the 06 wheel/tire. Cracking of the exhaust has also been reported due to flex of the chassis in extreme use but this seems to be more the exception than the rule. I have nearly 300 miles on mine and to date has really been reliable over all different terrain and temperature with the exceptions noted above. I would suggest you take off the right side panel and inspect it as you may not be able to see the melting from the outside. Hope this helps. Ride on.

I think the 800 is good, but my buddy has a 700, and its a piece of sh**!!! He is trading it in for an 800, or an AC650. I actually hear alot of people saying Polaris is slacking in quality lately. I was actually a Polaris fan, before i rode AC. I still like Polaris sleds, but i think they need to try a little harder to make their quads the way they used to.
