500 EFI Recalls and Fixes
#1
I am about to take my 500 EFI in for the 25 hour service and checkup. While I am there I'd like to get a few things fixed, if fixes are in fact available and I can tell them about it. I have already had the fan / overheating light issue resolved. I have intermittent stalling issues (when coming to a stop) and have he melting plastic issue. On the stalling problem I've heard everything from mis-aligned clutches, ECM (computer) re-flashing and ETC adjustments as a fix.
So, on both of these issues are there any truly documented Polaris fixes? Will an ECM re-flash help with general performance etc.? Is there anything I could take in to document that Polaris authorizes the fixes (had to do this to get the hot-light fixes....dealer didn't even know it was a problem)
Last question.....anything else I need to have them look at / fix while I have it in. I love the bike and it really hasn't given me much trouble at all....just would like to fix all known issues while I have it in and don't know where to get the list of known issues other than the few above.
THANKS!!!!

so far in the forum the threads tend to say:
a lot of people reported fuel gage issues. not reading correctly.
a few have the stalling issue
a few have melting plastic
a few have a fan staying on
a few reported paint chafe down by the foot boards where they meet the fenders
thaz about all i know...

Yes, the stall issue is documented as fixed by re-flashing the ECM with a new program and shutdown procedure. I had the fix and so far no more stall, and YES, better performance. After the fix, other than the better perfomance, I now hear a ticking sound after shutdown, a quick:"Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick" (I was told the ticking sound this is normal, just the IAC realigning itself). Oh and no stall.
