Aluminum vs. steel rims
#11
Well i don't think it will stop them from getting the odd rub and scratch but it sure will help....my 2ply tires are a joke on the trails around here.. several times i have hit dead space on the rims in the middle...yes, the middle... of course i was found to have the need for a little more air but it just goes to show how flexible the tire rubber is on the 2ply
them rims aint cheap though...so watch the numbers creeping up there cause the 6ply aint cheap either...

If you're just buying them because they look nice, I'd save the money and find a good can of spray paint.
If you really need them, then go for it. Otherwise, I take the money and put it into mods for either the suspension, clutch or motor.

Remember, they only look good when it's parked and clean.

i 've had the crome rims on 02 sports. 500 and they rust really nice when all scared up. i will agree w/ the ptx tires on my 800 alum rims to me are junk when comes to rolling and giving. but its because there only a 3 ply. but w/ the xtr's being 6 plys i dont think the rock issues will even be there. if your going to get new rims, spend the extra and get 6 ply tires as well and have no flex problem. thats just my experince talking.

I have 25" Executioners (6 ply with rim guards) on Vision aluminum Beadlock Rims from Polaris. I went on a 180 mi. trip in Canada, and got a flat in the first hour and a half, I did the rest of the trip, about 165 mi. on a flat rear tire through mud over big rocks and trees, and only had a couple of dings and some scratches on the rim.
