Default scrambler 400 or a yamaha warrior??

Hi, im new to the forum and my brother is going to buy an Atv, he doesnt have alot of money so he will be sticking with it for a while. He has a bit of riding experience but not much. He is going to be riding trails, mud, fields and woods. The 2000 scrambler is in nice shape, new clutch belt and battery, and tires are decent. He is asking $2000.
The warrior is only a 94 but from what i know they are the same from 89-2003 minus the plastic design. It has a new 2000 warrior frame, new computer, battery, aluminum rims, and calipers. It also has a racing axel. Also an aftermarket pipe. I guess the first owners didnt treat it to well. So im told. The second owner put all this new stuff on it and sold it to the guy who owns it now. The guy is selling it cause he is in to trikes. Im gonna buy a stock exhaust cause the aftermarket is too loud were i ride. They are asking $1400 for this quad.

Now, i really dont care which is better preformance to some extent unless there is a huge differnce. My brother will be racing time trials in the trails against me on my kdx220 and my friends xr200 and my other freinds 400ex. But he also likes to putt around at my grandfathers farm. trying to get the best machine for him. AS far as shifting he can learn if need be but he doesnt exactly like it. Please let me know your opinions. Thanks

From what you say about the two and thier condition I would go with the Scrambler but be ready to drop a bit more cash into it if it hasnt had a topend done to it.
The Scrambler will ride better and be faster than the Warrior but the Warrior will handle jumps and tracks better.

Id say the scrambler, I own a warrior and a scrambler. I like the scrambler alot more then the warrior from just the power difference. The warriors are a bit of a dog but not too bad and you have to shift(i dont care which i have auto or man) If you are doing time trials the scrambler might be better, point it and gas it. Hope this helps

I'd be wondering why the Warrior has a new frame. Not something you just decide to buy unless it's broke, or you want to race it. May be more problems there than the 600 dollar savings will cover.

ya i called both guys up again today. First the warrior had a real bad first owner im told, frame busted and what not. The second owner basically fixed it. Quote from ad on what it has "With new keihan carborator, k&n air filter, new 2000 frame, free and clear title, wiring harness, great battery, starter, computer, shocks, calipers, racing axle, incredible aluminum rims" all this was replaced. Then the owners who have it now bought it. He is selling it to go back to trikes.

does anything look wrong with this motor? Neglected maybe or good shape??

the scrambler needs new tires after this season and new brake pads, it has new belts and needs a new electric start switch. Other than that real nice shape.

The Warrior motor can give problems if the valves are not adjusted regularly. With what has been do to the Warrior I would stay away from it.Go with the Scrambler or hold out for a better Warrior.
