I inquired about Jet Hot on my pipe, thought that I would share the info with anyone interested! Here is a copy/paste of his email, sent on Saturday. I wonder if the baked on mud washes off easier, harder, or about the same. I forgot to ask him. Someone on here has this done on his 800, maybe he will chime in. Here it is:

On my recent telephone inquiry to Jet-Hot about what it would cost to coat my 800 header pipe I was quoted (verbally) $85 + $27 shipping back.
All the other info in your exchange with them is identical to what I was told. I’m seriously considering having it done.

 

I had my 800 header coated by Jet-Hot and was qouted 100.00 via the telephone. I paid around 40.00 to ship the header to them then the charged 135.00 to coat the pipe plus shipping to return it to me. The pipe lasted about 30 miles before the coating started peeling off in large flakes. I called Jet-hot and they said no problem it has a three year warranty just send it back at my expense along with the cost of shipping back to me. It will cost me +/- 80.00 to have a defective coating job repaired under warranty. The pipe has yet to be returned and may never get returned.

 

It reduces underhood temperatures? on a quad!

 

I used heat tape from Autozone $48.00 and the black silcon spay $8.00 I took the extra tape and placed inside my plastic then covered with the self stick allumnum tape. I then spaced out my right floor board about 1 inch and both the front and rear fenders.The break lever bent by hand easy and then streched my Hi / Park spring. Now no heat on my leg and no plastic melting or even getting warm it took about 1 hour to do.

 

That sucks about the $80 warranty issue!

Under hood temps...That is a general statement. I assume these guys mostly think about race cars.

Heat tape... sounds like a good idea. I was after the performance increase also though.

 

Wow, 30 miles and it came off?!? That’s not much of an endorsement for Jet Hot. They should at least pay the shipping back to you.

 

Here is another place that does ceramic coating. I have heard they do a good job, but do not know the cost for ATV pipes.

That’s good to know. Classic is a lot closer to me and after hearing about the problem with Jet Hot I’d just as soon give Classic a shot at it. Thanks for the link.

 

Great thread boys , I have sent stuff to jethot beforte and I thought it was around $60. I have to do something with my pipe on my motorcycle soon , was curious what the pricing would be .
