Winch cable (wire to rope)
Well PTOWO
Thanks for the input, As far as riding in a oven …….I have felt like it was some days ….but that’s another story!
The temperature problem comes from the drum on the winch conducting heat from the electric motor. On the truck winch’s it can burn your fingers. I guess they make heat shields for the first few wraps that are designed to help this problem.

When I redid my winch with the Amsteel I also replaced the roller fairlead with a hawse fairlead....You can get them in billet aluminum or uhmw....The rollers can pinch the rope if you're winching at angles where the rope is being wound in the corners of the fairlead........I'm not saying you can't use a roller but the hawse is suggested.....
