Oil leak
#1
Any other Scrambler owners with leaky oil tanks? I tried buying a new drain plug washer which fixed the drip temporarily, but after the first oil change, it's leaking again. I don't feel like shelling out big bucks for a new Polaris plastic washer every oil change. Would it hurt to try a little teflon tape on the treads, or will I risk contaminating the oil?

My wifes 2003 scrambler leaks at the drain bolt as well. Does yours have a plastic or metal tank. Too much teflon tape may be a bad thing.
I have seen broken threads from too mush tape. If you have a plastic tank it may cause the metal part to spin in the tank.I am going to try some pipe dope on the treads close to the bolt head. Yes those plastic washers are expensive for what they are.

Mine has the plastic oil tank. You don't think there would be some kind of chemical reaction that would cause the oil to break down either pipe dope or teflon tape and contaminate the oil do you? I was thinking about just a little right by the head of the drain plug bolt. Are there any reasons not to try this?
