What kind of swing arm conc/non conc 98 scrammy 400
98 was a change over year for the concentric drive. Look at the front sprocket. Is it directly in line with the swingarm pivot point? (where it bolts up) If so, it is concentric. If the swingarm bolts back behind the front sprocket, then its not. All the concentric drive does is put the front sproket and the swingarm pivot point on the same axis. This makes the chain distance stay the same through out the suspension travel. This way you don't have to bottom out the suspension to adjust the chain. Just find the tightest point in the chain and adjust it accordingly. Saves chain life too

ftwflh, I was thinking that but was scared to say it. Been a while since I had to explain the difference and of the easiest ways to tell I completely went blank on that. I was thinking that but as soon as i said it I would have gave the wrong info. Maybe this guy won't read my lecture on how it works and get right to yours.

Alright guys thanks, Its a concentric. I know the difference between them but wheeler is not where I am located because I am at a friends house so I couldnt find out, Found parts for it to buy and it was for a concentric swingarm. Whats the better arm? and do I need a chain tensioner?? Someone recommended one for concentric but wasnt sure why. Thanks alot, Brian
