Default 800EFI not charging

My buddy has an 06 800EFI which does not seem to be charging itself.. He has put a volt meter on the battery which readys 12v (approx) after he uses a trickly charger to charge it.. He starts the quad raised the RPM's but the volts do not increase.. Before he takes it to the dealer, any quick things that he can check.. Thanks

with the quad turned off put it in neutral then while holding the reverse override button start the quad that will bring up the diagnostic screen that will tell how much volatage there is and alot of other useful things...

it should be putting out beween 12.5 to 14 volts while its reved up a little. maybe the rectifier got unplugged and is not allowing it to charge. it happened to my 500 once.
