Default White Bros can and melting plastic

Well I could not resist and I installed my WB can on my stock pipe even though I have a 800 header being Cremic coated. I noticed that it runs right out to the end of the rear fender and now I'm smellign what I think is melting plastic. I know the new part needs to break in and is burning out the oils... from the manufacturing processes. I'm wondering iF the exhaust outlet is just to close to the fender plastic. I would estimate that there is less that an inch of clearance detween the muffler and the palstic. I did notice on my short 5 min runs that the rear bumper I have is getting hot to the touch. There is also only about 1 inch of clearence between the bumper and the end of the mullfler. I'm scheduled for a long rid on Sunday and don't want to trash my rear plastics. ANyone else running the WB can on an 06. Thanks

I am running a white bros can on my 04.5 700 efi and it is about a inch away from the bumper and it gets very hot to the touch and the fender flare that wraps around the back is just above the rear bumper is also very warm and no melting problems, i have rode in 95* heat for 5hrs straight and no problems so far.

Encorebilly,

Do you have the PN for the part. I want to make sure I read you correclty. You have the 180 degree deflector what does that acomplish. I;ve got more miles on the bike now with the WB Muffler and I did manager to melt the lower corner of my rear fender. It's not bad and we rere riding hard on the ~100 heat. ~13 miles of he!!. I burnt my belt, busted my nerf bar and bent the footwell frame on the left side of the bike doing on Sunday. I'm just worries it will get worse when I get my cremic 800 header pipe installed next week. more heat retension. Thanks.

I will try to look it up.The deflector shoots the exhaust stright out the back on the top 180deg of the can, instead of slanting it upward.
