Default 250 flooding horribly

I recently got a 1990 Trailboss 250 2x4 that wouldnt run. I took apart the carb cleaned everything up, but it floods really badly. Like so bad that fuel leaks out the carb. Anyone have any idea what would cause it to flood this much?!?! Im thinking the floats but im not really sure how to adjust them. Any input would be extremely helpfull. Thanks

For it to be pouring fuel as bad as you described either the floats are way out or the needle and seat need to be replaced or both.

hes right. if your sure theres no dirt holding the need open then its either one of the two you mentioned. i just turn the carb upside down and make sure the float sits fairly level and its pretty close. sounds stupid but w/ it clean and upside down try blowing thru the gas inlet and see if any air gets thru and then you can see if the needle and seat are bad.

I am having the same problem... fuel coming out of the vent hose and then into the air intake - I took it apart and cleaned it, but not a rebuild - is there a setting for the float or? cause they seem to move ok - sorry to hijack your thread.

There is a setting for the float but I do not know the spec right now. Someone else on here might but you should be able to see if it is way out, bent, etc. However, with fuel pouring out the way you describe I bet its the needle and seat. If you took it apart during cleaning and checked it and it is still doing it the n/s may be damaged so replacement is a good measure and it should inexpensive.

I just ordered a new n/s - and the guy said to check see if there is fuel in my casing? or in the exaust by "shaking" it to see if I hear a swoosh... hehe. anyway I should get it tomorrow and replace the N/S... someday this thing will run.
