Default scrammy making odd squeeking noises when trying to start, PLEASE HELP!!!

Yay, yet again another scrammy problem. its a 98 and the last time i will fix it. OKay it was down for a while due to a bad cdi. Put the new cdi on it and it started right up and everything was fantastic. I didnt ride it though because i wanted to make sure everything was a ok. I gave it a real good warm up then shut it off so I could check the plug for color. Whne I shut it off it made a weird noise like something was still spinning then it stopped. Now when I pulled it over it started making puffing noises as if it wanted to back fire, then I was hearing these odd squeeking noises, its very hard to tell where they are coming from with only one person trying to work on it. It does it if the ignition is on or off. I am thinking it could be something like a bearing?? It never locked up or anything and I didnt hear anything else while it was running. It sounds like it is coming from the left side of the engine maybe on the bottom. What are your suggestions on what it could be? Thanks alot, Brian

Maybe a head gasket or is the drain plug tight? If the plug is not tight it will leak compression and could squeak or the same with teh head gasket.

It is happening when pulling it over. I tried starting it but it puffing and popping not backfiring though. So ive been screwing with it without trying to start it. But it sounds like metal grinding or something. It doesnt happen every single time I pull it over, just every couple of pulls. Thanks, Brian

try taking the belt off and see what it does, if you here a puff it is proable the head gasket and your hearing leakage.

I tried a hotshot cdi and the timing was so out of wack I had to slowly pull the piston to the top of the stroke and then pull it or it would kick back and rip the cord back into the recoil. I also had the shut down issues.

I got a squeek like that from my bad crank bearing.

for that sort of noise I would ask you

do you own a cat and has it sorta not been seen much of late

HINT - to confirm this is problem, wait 3 days and smell around the scrammy [with caution]
