Default Predator oil level

I checked my oil after not riding for a couple weeks and found it not even touching dip stick. Filled up to in between hash marks and went riding on track. After about 15 minutes oil was filling into air box and when checking level again it was up to cap. Is this common, should you check the oil only after it is warm?

yes, as it holds oil in the engine....and also hot/warm oil expands a little........
