Caper, next time you head down to Barrie, Go to Royal Distributing and get a reusable filter. I got a UNI foam filter for about $40 and its completly reusable. Mine has paid for itself 10X over, but you have to drive to Barrie, or get it shipped to your house by Purolator. Personally, I'd rather go down just to run to Misty's for a beer

Yes I was thinking about the UNI-FOAM filters at Royal Dis. But how much does it really cost to keep clean!!!!!!!You need to keep adding oil to them every time......How many filter cleans does a bottle of oil due.......and the cost of buying the oil all the time :you could just put a new clean paper filter in ........Am I wrong.......Maybe.......Tell me otherwise....Thanks As for Stenroi .....I have about 600 miles on them so far and they are dirty.....drive in VERY dusty trails..... Need to clean them after almost every ride....unless I am leading the pack.........I just getting ready to purchase a few to have ahead......I got two bikes the same ,so I should keep some stock ahead............Thanks....Both of you guys.............caper.......

we also drive hers(450) in dusty trails as shes always behind me. i just take off the dust cover thats on the air filters and wash it out w/ water and or blow out as i do w/ the paper filter. i've only replace mine in my 800 once because i got my air box full of mud from a bad seal. if you clean your uni filter you do have to reoil it every time and (just my opinion) i beleave that the paper filter does a better job of keeping the dust out of the engine.

Well for me a reusable filter is key, I keep thinkin the Scrammy floats and paper filters are NFG with water. For me being able to leave the foam filter out in the sun while draining the water outta the bike is easier then going to town to get a new paper filter. But i guess its up to you. But I know Janssen made a killing off of Air filters and oil change kits this spring before he sold the buisness a couple of weeks ago.

The oil for foam filters isn't really expensive in the long run. I bought an K@N recharger kit that has oil and cleaner in it at Canadian tire for about $15 - $20 about 3 years ago. The cleaner is long gone, so I just use Spray and Wash to clean it. The Oil is still about half full after 12,000km's of riding. You really don't need to put that much oil on them. Just spray on enuf to give it a good coating so that any dirt will stick to it.
The foam filters do take more maintenance, as you have to clean them, let them dry and then oil, wheras the paper you just through out and put the new one in.

I think sometimes i just need to lay off the beers lol, or bought an argo, no cause then i would carry a bigger cooler lol, My problem is I always lead the pack, and I am horrible for pushin the envolope. I need to learn that when the water is over my boots to turn around not put them up on the rack cause the next thing you know the water is over your racks too lol.

i've been in water up to and a little over the front rack w/ no problem w/ a good seal on the air box. but that is pushing the envolope to get wet lol.
