ETC? Have you checked the play in the throttle? Should only be a little bit. If it is too much, the Etc will shut it off

I had the same thing happen on my '04 sp 500 ho and if it is not the ETC I would look at the pilot jet. I took mine out and put it in a can of pop (coke) and sprayed it with carb cleaner and it cleaned it completly out and no problems since.

I agree with you polarisman3. It may very well be that also. It's amazing how the quality of as is now that a month or so of sitting and the gas gel up. Or maybe a piece of trash in it.

When I know my wheelers will sit for a while, I'll start them up with the petcock off. I rev it up a little bit to help burn up the gas. And it starts to sputter I flip the choke on and off to help evacuate the bowl. Easier than taking the carb off every two months.

Try fuel stabalizer. I put it into my gas cans before filling them so I never have to wonder if whats in my toys is stabalized or not. Have been doing this for years with quads, sleds, boat motors, lawn mowers, etc and never a problem with gas going bad. Cheap insurance in my opinion.
