Default Engine gurus, a question... (particularly Pred guys...)

Hey guys,

Well thanks to Polaris not making a KTM Predator looks like i'm stuck w/ the nemisis until something happens for '07.5 or '08 to change my mind... Here's what's happening: after the tranny issues i have a month or so ago i took the preddy to another dealer and they found that my previous dealer had assembled the tranny wrong. They replaced the entire tranny (again) and also found a burnt valve and a scored piston, (but no scorring whatsoever on the cylinder wall... so it was probably like that when the other dealer put it in...) Anyway i got it back just in time for the bachelor party up in Baldwin, and it ran great the whole weekend.

The question i have is this: It starts idles Amazingly well without even touching the throttle. It will proceed to idle beautifully for about 2-3 minutes then suddenly it shuts off instantly. The machine does not slowly die out and there's no warning at all it just stops firing abruptly. It's only got about 13hrs on the rebuild, and i've already put some dry gas into it, and gone all over the place with th eneedle clip before returning it to stock. I tried to increase the pilot jet (per my dealer's instruction) and it made it run much longer, but after letting it idle for about 6 mins or so, it still just died abruptly. The machine still fires first try right afterwards, usually without any throttle. If anyone knows what this might be please let me know. The dealer says maybe it's still really tight, but they're not exactly sure... since it's only when it is let to idle for extended periods, tho it's really not that big a deal while riding... still would like to figure it out tho

FYI: my current set up is a K&N filter and the White Bros. Pipe ONLY. The rath header is off the machine right now, and the jetting was put back to factory as a result. (45 / 150) i increased the pilot jet as noted above so we're now at (47.5 / 150)

Thanks in advance!!!

Unplug the ETC at the throttle housing and see if that cures it, may just need the cable adjusted to remove excess freeplay.

Exactly what I was thinking. Unplug it at the throttle....and see if that helps. I'd also suggest checking your jetting here soon(spark plug).....it looks as if that might be a hair lean....but I dunno.
