Hi, I know a guy that will sell me his 2003 polaris predatior for $2500 and it has a exhaust holeshot tires and spedo and also a 440 conversion kit new in a box. Is $2500 A good deal or not, It is in mint condition. My question is what are the problems with the earlyer modles because I have seen a few post regarding problems? I also have A polaris sport, 400EX and a raptor 660. Can any buddy tell me what to expect when hopping on a preditar? how fast will it be compaired to the raptor? I just want to know everything I can about them before I go buy it because I made the mistake with my raptor 2001 and then I found out it had a cracked case and transmition problems. the 03 predators have an extended swing arm, and weak frames. they're known for cracking. the 440 kit is worthless unless you want to race in a 450 class. a stock 03 predator is about as fast as a stock raptor 660

 

Really week frames? I will look into it. Is there somthing the need to fix this? Is this just the people doing HUGE jumps and things of just people that go of smaller jumps like 5 feet jumps or under. Also were is the spot in the frame they crack?

 

you can buy gusset kits from like Rath Racing or Nicholas Cycle to strengthen the frames. i think its from people really beating the **** out of the suspension with big jumps and stuff, owners of the 03's like Bradracer would be better suited for answering this. they crack and the weld joints

 

Spyder is correct......they crack near the rear subframe mounts.....and near the gas tank.....just remove the seat, and look it over good. It is for people who do beat them a bit....no big deal to fix either. I've not had this problem yet. The 440 kit is worthless....and doesn't give the power of the 500 either.....I've been told it runs more like a 2 stroke with it in.....needing high rpms most of the time(or not having any torque). Just look it over real well.....and it should be fine. It will probably need some maintaince however(unless he's done it).....like the front end bushing, bearings, axle bearings, and chain and sprockets......can get kinda spendy(probably near $200).......but you know what you've got in the end. Might also need the valves adjusted.....


The 440 kit coming with makes me think that maybe the engine might have trouble....or why does he have it???
