I have a 2005 Trailblazer 250 that I need to install a Tether Switch on ASAP. The only tether I could get quick is a really nice handlebar mount that is open when the tether is attached and closed when the tether pops off. I need to know what wires I can short together to stop the engine, without ruining any electric modules. Does the Run Switch on the Handle Bar work this way? If so I could probably use those wires. I will do some investigating tonight with an Ohm Meter, but I really need some advice.

I have ordered a manual with wiring schematics included, but it will not be here on time.

not 100% sure but i beleave the kill switch is just a grounding type that when its turned it grounds out. but do an omhs check and you'll know for sure.

 

Thanks for the reply, if you are right I could still make that work, I could just run one side of the tether to ground and the other side to the appropriate wire that gets grounded at the switch. I hope you are right...I just need to find a way to make it kill the motor by making a connection, not breaking one, even if it is just connecting to ground.

I found an easy answer, it was already posted on this forum. The two wires for the throttle safety switch!!! If you close them together the motor shuts down. The wires are easy to find, and just as easy to tap into.

does it actually shut down the engine or go into a rev limited type mode?

 

It shuts the motor completely down, I thought the same thing, as this is what my sleds safety switch does, but this one kills the engine, so the tether is really easy to hook up.

 

My daughter has an '01 trailblazer. Would it be the same? If so what color are the wires and where are they located?
