Default Hawkeye Carb Fix

Hey HUD,
Info came straight from a friend who works in a dealership. It's the Polaris fix that they are telling the dealers to do. They have the option of drilling holes or cahinging the part. I love riding the wifes Hawkeye now that it's fixed, I actually ride hers more than I do mine.....You can send me a message and I'll send you my #.

Will,

You are killer cool.. Thank you for the offer to call. I can't work on the quad until sunday or so. We are catching some heavy rain from the hurricane. I will p.m. my number to you and I appreciate your willingness to help me out.

Your latest response is why I register on these sites and also try to help all I can.

Will!!!!!!!!!!!

One more thing...

Can your friend get a Polaris bulletin number or some info that makes your information on the carb tuning official.

My dealer will probably give me the parts if I can convince them that it is part of a legit Polaris repair bulletin.

Thanks a load

Can't get a post #, but if you pitch a bitch or.......are super cool with your dealer. You should be able to get them to fix it. if not, then do what I did after the thought....call Polaris and somone will call you back and tell you about the any problems you may have and even call your dealer about your heading over to have it done.

fixithud,

Try the needle in the middle groove and see if that makes a difference. If you're ATV runs like crap at half throttle and you take the air filter off and it runs great, then the mixture is too rich with the filter on. Raising the needle one position will lean out the midrange fuel circuit. See if that doesn't make it better. BTW, carb adjustments should be made one step at a time.

Thanks... Dog and Will...

I have been doing one thing at a time and them giving the quad a spin.

Will... Still looking for your phone number in a pm.

I am going to call the dealer on Tues. with the info I have. They are really good. I appreciate their help.. I am three hours away and they typically just send the parts. No problem.

Polaris ATV Team Tips bulletin #A-06-06-04 was the information another post had on it.

Gonna give this to the dealer and see if he can verify. I called Polaris and am waiting on a call back. Hmmmmmm.

Already run the entire selection of needle positions with no improvment.

Still willing to try anything you folks have to offer.

Dog!! did you switch to K&N filter to remedy problems you were having or to upgrade from the factory element?

I think I am affected by this as well, my wife and I each have a Hawkeye however hers seems to stall out after 15 minutes of riding.

Do each Polaris Dealer know of this fix? The one I contacted said they want to drill holes in the airbox and I don't want them to do that....

Does it stall after 15 minutes of hard riding? With the throttle open pretty far or at low speeds? Mine did that after several minutes of WOT and I found that the gas tank vent was pinched up by the fuel gauge. There is a rib on the gas tank that pinched it. Might be a place to look.

If you took the seat off, is the vent that transparent tube that splits off?

Where does the vent go into the gas tank?

btw, thanks!

That clear hose you see is the carb vent. Remove the gas cap and then remove the black plastic piece covering the center of the gas tank. It will be obvious where the vent tube is. Mine was pinched under the gas tank cover where the vent ran across the ridge in the topof the gas tank.

If you wife's stalls, what do you do to restart it? I had to loosen the gas cap on mine and it would fire right up, so I knew it was an issue with venting.
