I was looking at removing my black shifter handle on my sportsman. Want to replace the stock handle with something different. It looks like the black shifter is pressed onto the bar. I tried to unscrew it but it wont budge.

I really dont want to destroy the shifter and handle, so later I can put it back to stock if i want to.

Anyone ever get one of these off or will I just have to destroy the handle?

from the parts brek down i just looked at is says the top of the **** comes off and there's a screw under it to take the **** off.

 

Pop the top off the shifter and there is a screw with a washer holding it on.
