Texmud,

I know that you weren't trying to make people mad. But there are others on this forum that think otherwise.

Sounds like you guys are having fun, keep on riding.

Thor,
I am not capable of debating the specifics of why some quads are quicker with larger tires. Maybe it is because of low gearing and high torque... I do not know. I do know my SP500 runs about the same with 27s as it does with 25s. I think Tazgrizz's Grizzly is considerably faster with 27s than it is with stock tires. This does not make much sense to me, but we have compared both ways on the street with no traction variables.

You may now tell me why I am wrong. I will listen, but that does not change the fact that we have tested this several times on a flat paved surface with the same conclusion each time.

Greg

Maybe if the H.O had a lower duration cam, smaller carb and less power like a regular SP it would of done better? I think the driver of the H.O must not of had a clue he was in a race.

Thor, you are the first person in this forum that has ever said this: "Have you considered the fact that the Rubicon is geared lower than necessary and will actually gain speed from an increase in tire diameter?" Everyone else (not me) thinks its geared to high.

You might tell the guy with the HO that it has high range as well as low. That might make a big difference! lol

I haven't raced any Rubicons, but One of my friends has a 450 Foreman 4x4 (2000) . He was getting blown away, by the rest of the pack. (We all had new machines at this time). Now that his Honda is broken in, he can hit small humps in second gear, wheelie, and ride it out in third gear!. His bike has loosened up and has become much more respectable in the performance department. He still can't take my '99 SP but The Foreman has gotten quicker. And his machine has been trouble-free. Ride em hard polcat

How long was this drag? The fact that the rubicon has no delay off start (time for belt to hook up)like a CVT auto does? just a thought...
